Concerned games boss in Delhi, to inspect stadiums

Concerned games boss in Delhi, to inspect stadiums

As the Commonwealth organising committee is under close scrutiny from media for their alleged scam in placing orders and still incomplete stadias , the Games Federation president Michael Fennell has arrived in capital to inspect various stadiums. They have been hit by construction delays. The mega event will start from October 3-14 mega event. There is no information whether he would also speak to press. He may meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as well as Sports minister.

It is said that Fennell was also very concerned after a spate of corruption charges were levelled on the Organising Committee, especially its chairman Suresh Kalmadi. He can seek a lot of answers from the CWC in this connection.

However, Fennel refused to comment on the corruption scandals that dogged the Games. Fennel is expected to visit various stadias in order to see their present state.

Meanwhile, Organising Committee vice-chairman Randhir Singh said on Monday that all the stadiums are in "top-class shape" and will be ready within a week's time.

"We checked each and everything minutely. Although minor work remains, everything will be completed in a week's time. By August 25 all the things will be done," Singh, who is also the secretary-general of Indian Olympic Association, had said.
