AR Rahman sets the tune for CWG 2010

Music Maestro AR Rahman on Monday launched the theme song for Commonwealth Games 2010. The Group of Ministers (GoM) on CWG announced on Sunday that AR Rahman would tune its theme song.

"I want to dedicate the song to Mahatma Gandhi," Rahman said as he launched the song in the Capital. CWG Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi was also present with him.

"We discussed the theme song among ourselves and AR Rahman, (Film Director) Shyam Benegal and (Producer) Bharat Bala. The GoM has approved the theme song in principle. It will be before the public in another 10 days," Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who heads the GoM, had said after the Sunday meeting.

Sources said the officials want to ensure that the theme song becomes a sensation like Rahman`s own Jai Ho composed for the film Slumdog Millionaire and Soccer World Cup theme song Waka Waka.

101 ways to torture your husband…!

A new book advising women on the 101 ways they can torture their husbands has been released by an award-winning New York radio broadcaster.

According to the Sun , the book, ‘101 Ways to Torture Your Husband’, by author Maria Garcia-Kalb, talks of the clever tactics women can employ to make theirhusbands beg for mercy, reports the Daily Telegraph . Some of the top tips include ‘repeatedly asking him if you are fat’ while in underwear and showing off the most unflattering parts of your body, or ‘faking it and telling him you did’ just to keep his ego in check.

The other advices she gave were, ‘sign him up for dance class’, ‘treat him to a massage with a male masseuse’, ‘send him on a hellish supermarket trip’, ‘volunteer him for the school field trip’, and ‘refer to yourself only in third person.’ She further writes that the one way you can really get at your husband is to ‘finally open up to his family’ by telling his mother you don’t like her cooking or showing his grandmother the naughty tattoo on your bottom.

If that is not enough, a women can always ruin her husband’s day by saying ‘we need to talk’ just before he leaves for work in the morning so he’s left wondering all day what he’ll face when he gets home. The book also says that wives who want to push theirhusbands to the edge can also bribe them with sex then fail to pay up, or they can kick it up a notch by wearing racy underwear in bed but sleeping all night long.

You too can become rich. You would not find many who would not like to become wealthy. There is nothing wrong if you wish to live in a plush house and travel in swanky cars. While many people dream of becoming rich, most never achieve this dream. Of course, rich is a relative term with regard to financial wealth, as the average poor or middle class person today enjoys luxuries unknown to the wealthy people of ages past. Compared to the wealth of Bill Gates and Mukesh Ambani, the average American and Indian is poor. However, if we compare the creature comforts enjoyed by the same average American of today to those enjoyed by George Washington, the richest man ever to hold the office of President of the US, it Washington who comes up short.

1 Inherit a fortune – for the most part this is a matter of luck in that you either have to be born into a family with a rich relative who will leave you their fortune or you have to encounter and befriend a wealthy person who is childless and decides to leave you their fortune. Both of these are long shots.

2 Win the Lottery – this is every sucker`s dream, but frankly, the odds of meeting and befriending a childless stranger are probably greater than winning any lotteries. As for the lottery run by my state (Arizona, and probably every other lottery in the world), I had a mathematician demonstrate to me once that your chances of winning the lottery by purchasing a ticket are statistically only slightly (very slightly) greater than your chances of finding a winning ticket on the ground that someone else brought and lost.

3 Be born with a talent in great demand – This one also depends upon luck but you do have more control and greater chances with this than with numbers 1 and 2 above. Inventory your talents to see what you have and what the market wants – athletes, singers, entertainers are currently hot commodities. Then work very hard at developing your talent and you just might make that fortune. While it may look easy, when you take time to study the background of the beautiful millionaire model or the the athlete making millions throwing a football, you will find that an incredible amount of time and effort went into reaching their present position and the stress of their present fame is usually more than most of us want to have to endure.

4 Grab an Opportunity and Run With it – Get a good education in a hot area, such as IT, web design, nano technology, etc. Work hard to become a leader in the field and keep watching over your shoulder for the next opportunity in the field. Then, when the opportunity presents itself, throw all of your time, energy, and every cent you can get your hands to to start a company to produce the product or service. If you guessed correctly and the product or service is just what the public wants NOW you can either go public and make a fortune on the sale of some of your stock or sell it for billions to a company like Google (a la You Tube) or Yahoo. Of course your plan could bomb and you could find yourself with nothing but a pile of bills or, worse, fail because you were too early and have to endure the pain of seeing someone else make a fortune with the same ideas a few years later whenthe market is right.

Absconding Pappu Yadav arrested in Gurgaon

CBI has arrested mafia don-turned-politician Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav from Gurgaon. Now he would be produced in court. The Supreme Court has asked the CBI to arrest Yadav, who is absconding after his bail was cancelled by the apex court May 3 this year. It may be recalled that Pappu Yadav was sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court for his involvement in Communist Party of India-Marxist MLA Ajit Sarkar’s murder.

“We are surprised to note that despite cancellation of bail of the accused by this court, neither the accused has surrendered nor he has been taken into custody,” said the apex court bench of Justices Markandey Katju and AK Patnaik.

The court directed the CBI and the Bihar Director General of Police to execute its order forthwith. The bench passed the order after hearing the review petition Thursday. The court has asked the CBI to submit the compliance report in four weeks time.

Dismissing the petition seeking the review of the apex court’s order cancelling Pappu Yadav’s bail, the court said: ‘We have carefully gone through the review petition and the connected papers as also the application for exemption from surrendering. We do not find any merit therein and they are dismissed accordingly.’

While cancelling the bail, the apex court had said in the wake of apex court orders of 2007, the high court should not have passed the order granting bail to Pappu Yadav.

The apex court said the high court’s action granting bail to Pappu Yadav was contemptuous. The CBI had moved the apex court for the cancellation of Pappu Yadav’s bail. The high court had granted bail to Pappu Yadav in February 2009.
