Bollywood stars earning huge money through TV

Bollywood stars earning huge money through TV

If you think that Bollywood stars only earn through their films and endorsements, then you are grossly mistaken. They also earn huge moolah through television also. It is said that Salman Khan is charging Rs4 crore for each episode of Bigg Boss 4 on Colors.

This fees is thrice that he was paid on Dus ka Dum last year while Priyanka Chopra has become the highest paid among actresses for hosting Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 3. She will be paid Rs60 lakh for an episode.

Though getting far less than Sallu bhai, Akshay Kumar is to be paid Rs2 crore for every episode of his cookery show on Star Plus called Master Chef to start from October. Evergreen Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly being paid Rs2.25 an episode for Kaun Banega Crorepati 4.

Sources say that getting stars for reality shows is a win-win situation for both the actor and producer as they reach out to a wider audience. For instance, in the case ofSalman Khan, the promos of Bigg Boss Season 4 will coincide with the last leg of promotion of his movie Dabang slated for next month release.

Sources say, A-grade Bollywood stars are usually paid in the range of Rs80 lakh-Rs2.5 crore an episode, while the next rung of celebrities are paid Rs20 lakh-60 lakh for an episode.

According noted film journalist Harish Chandra, anchoring a reality show on television is very lucrative, hence stars accept offers from TV.

Peepli Live satellite rights sold for Rs100 mn

Aamir Khan's much awaited flick Peepli Live, which will perhaps be the first non-commercial Hindi film to hit over 600 screens on Friday, has already recovered its investment by selling its satellite rights for Rs100 million.

The film has been made with a budget of approximately Rs100 million (including marketing costs). Journalist-turned director Anusha Rizvi's directorial debut Peepli Live is a satire on the farmers suicides and the subsequent political and media reaction.

It will hit 600 screens in India and 100 in overseas markets, except Britain.

"In Britain we have partnered with Artificial Eye (again first for a Hindi Film), a premium distribution chain that looks into art house main stream release and own the largest art house exhibition chain called Curzon theatres. We will release 'Peepli Live' in Britain on September 24," said a source close to Aamir Khan Productions.

The cast of the film is a mixed bag - many actors are tribals from Bhadwai village in Madhya Pradesh, while other cast members are from late playwright Habib Tanvir's theatre troupe Naya Theatre, including the main lead Omkar Das Manikpuri, who plays Natha in Peepli Live.

The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffer, Vishal O Sharma, Aamir Bashir, Sitaram Panchal and Yugal Kishore.

If Aamir's earlier three commercial films were blocbusters, Peepli Live has earned a reputation for itself in the global film circuit. The movie recently won the Best First Feature Film award at the 31st Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.

Peepli Live also competed in the Sundance Film Festival, the first film from India to do so. The movie was picked up by specialty German distribution company, Rapid Eye Movies, for a special screening at the Berlin International Film Festival. It recently had its Melbourne premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival MIFF 2010.

The film has also put the spotlight on over 1,000 villages across India that are called Peepli.

Well, we would say when there Aamir then all is well! This Mr. Perfectionist has the best sense to choose a theme and story. So, distributors believe him blindly. We hope all the best for the movie.

No end to woes of Kalmadi, now CAG indicts

A report say that there are some some discrepancies in choosing consultants for global broadcasting rights and sponsorship deal for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in its interim inspection report has found these irregularities.

The report has revealed that CWG Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi had awarded the sponsorship deal to Melbourne-based Sports Marketing and Management (SMAM) at a very cheap price.

The sponsorship deal has since been scrapped on grounds of `non-performance`, a claim that has been refuted by the Australian firm, which said the charges against it are "imaginary".

UK`s Fast Track Sales Ltd was chosen as the consultant for the broadcasting rights.

The inspection of the CWG Organising Committee was done by field officers between November 2009 and January 2010. The inspection report has been sent to the Committee for its comments and it was not immediately known if a response has been made.

It was pointed out that the report related to an inspection done by field officers and it was not an audit report. It was also said that the final report may differ from the findings of the inspection report.

10 cruel things women do to men revealed

10 cruel things women do to men revealed

They are being known as the fairer sex, but women can be downright nasty and often do cruel things to men, reports ANI.

Fox News has compiled a list of top 10 cruel things that women do to men and how they play with the guy’s emotions or ego.

10. They don’t pick up the phone

While men feel good as they manage to take the girls’ phone number, the girls often give them a fake number or don’t pick up the call.

9. Use men for free drinks

Some women go out never planning to spend any of their own money on drinks at the bar or club. Instead, they count on their feminine wiles to convince guys to shell out for their libations. While some of them might begin to get to know him, the cruel and heartless ones will take that drink, flirt a little and move on.

8. Use men as placeholders

If she is a decent person, she’ll just get it over with and dump the boy, but if she’s cruel, she’ll hold on to him for a while until somebody new comes along. These girls don’t like to be alone and without a relationship, so instead of putting you out of your misery and ending it, she’ll string you along until she meets someone to replace you.

7. Emotionally manipulate men

Men don’t like to see women cry and some cruel women take advantage of the fact and use it to get what they want. A few tears would make men do anything to get it to stop.

6. Use physical violence

While men hitting girls are often termed nasty, some cruel women feel it’s perfectly acceptable to hit their boyfriends, as he would never hit her back. This type of woman feels like she can inflict any kind physical pain on him without fear of repercussion.

5. Criticize their men in public

Cruel women criticize and humiliate their men in public places. They often poke fun at her man or even soundly debase him.

4. They don’t disclose their relationship status

It’s certainly not the worst thing a woman could do to a man, but it is annoying when she’s already in a relationship and lets you assume that she’s available so that she can enjoy the man’s flirtation and flattery.

3. They withhold sex

This is a time-tested, and frequently used, cruel thing for women to do to men. For most men, sex is as important as breathing, so withholding it in order to get something she wants or simply to punish her man for his transgressions is a pretty awful thing to do, even if it is effective.

2. They test their men

You’re all ready to go for a night out with your friends, when your girlfriend calls and asks you to change your plans to be with her instead. She doesn’t have any particular reason; she just wants to see you. She knows that you had plans to meet up with the guys, but if you really loved her, you’d come over to her place instead. If her request comes with an "if you really loved me," then it’s a test. If you choose anything other than immediately rushing to her side, you’re going to fail. This kind of testing in a relationship is indeed cruel and petty.

1. They flirt to inspire jealousy

Maybe she’s feeling underappreciated, maybe you’ve just had a big fight or maybe she just enjoys the tortured look on your face. For whatever reason, girls who flirt obviously with other guys in front of their boyfriends are immature and manipulative.

Bhopal was a man made tragedy: P Chidambram

Bhopal was a man made tragedy: P Chidambram

After little less than three decades, the Government today admitted that Bhopal was a man-made tragedy, and the way it was dealt with was "most unsatisfactory". Replying to the debate in Rajya Sabha today, Home Minister P Chidambaram described the response to Bhopal as a "collective failure".

He said that what happened in Bhopal was a man made tragedy. This tragedy was in the making. There were enough indications to the authorities that the tragedy of this kind will happen. When it happened of course, virtually everyone was unprepared. Number of people lost their lives, number were permanently disabled, number were temporarily disabled.

We can see the after effects of this on women especially young girls who have since become women and are in child-bearing age, we can see the after effects on the second generation. And the manner in which the governments addressed this for the last 26 years has been, to be charitable, most unsatisfactory and what compounded the matter were judicial proceedings.

The Minister however added that what was important was to "look forward on what can be done." The Home Minister said that while it was impossible to re-open each case and look at catergorisation, the government was willing to provide free medical aid to those affected. "What we promise is free and comprehensive medical facilities for the the rest of the lives of the victims and the second generation," said Chidambaram.

Chidambaram said "memories tend to play tricks" and told the Leader of the Opposition, Arun Jaitley, what happened in 1984 and how Warren Anderson got away would have been better answered in 2001, when he was in power. The Home Minister also refered the Arjun Singh`s statement in the house on Wednesday.

Arjun Singh had said that Rajiv Gandhi did not intervene to help Anderson in any way. Singh was Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh when the Bhopal gas tragedy took place. Anderson was arrested when he arrived in Bhopal but was released within hours and flown to Delhi on the Chief Minister`s plane. The CEO of Union Carbide then flew to America and has never returned, defying multiple summons from Indian courts.
