Google to allow phone calls from Gmail

Google to allow phone calls from Gmail

Tech giant Google Inc says that Gmail users will now be able to call telephones directly from their email.

Google already provides computer-to-computer voice and video chat services. But the company said that it is for the first time that they will be allowing calls to home phones and mobile phones directly from Gmail.Google promised free calls to US and Canadian phones from Gmail for the rest of this year and said it would charge low rates for calls made to other countries. For example it said calls to Britain, France, Germany, China and Japan would be as low as two cents per minute.

Gmail user Manish Singh says that he is waiting for that day when Google will extend this service for their Indian subscribers.

Analysts said the service would likely be a bigger competitive threat to services like Skype`s than to traditional phone companies, which have already been cutting their call prices in recent years in response to stiff competition.

"This is a risk to Skype. It`s a competitor with a pretty good brand name," said Hudson Square analyst Todd Rethemeier.

Like Skype, Rethemeier said the Google service will likely be much more popular among US consumers making international calls, than among people calling friends inside the country.

"Calling is so cheap already that I don`t think it will attract a huge amount of domestic calling. It could take some of the international market," he said.

Even as the Uttar Pradesh government is trying to assuage farmers whose land has been acquired for the Yamuna expressway at throwaway prices, Mr Singh met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here to seek his intervention for re-introducing the lapsed land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2009, in Parliament.

Earlier this week, the National Democratic Alliance and some other parties also raised a demand in Parliament for re-introduction of the Bill.

Maa Tujhe salaam

Maa Tujhe salaam

As we are remembering Mother Teresa on her centenary, it is high time that we also recall her contribution for humanity. She was a lady of an unmatchable persona and individuality, who earnestly served the humanity and never expected anything in return. She was the Almighty`s envoy who gave her life to defeat abortion and remained committed for her wholehearted service towards the suffering. The work of the immortal is still very much alive and attracting many vocations and volunteers. Mother Teresa was born on August 27, 1910.

Almost 100 years after the birth of Mother Teresa, every day, many people visit her home in Calcutta.

Mother has always offered love and hope to the most disadvantaged. Her life was a combination of simplicity, sacrifice and strength in service to others. Serving the poorest of the poor was the motto of Mother Teresa, the way in which to "quench the thirst of Jesus."

Mother Teresa devoted her life to giving hope to the despairing, covering them with love. As we approach the centenary of her birth, we too, the Missionaries of Charity dedicate ourselves to serving the poorest of the poor to satisfy the thirst ofJesus. We are not social workers.

Today the poor are both those who lack material resources, and those who are poor in spirit. Our mission is to serve both with love. And Mother Teresa was very clear: "It is not the greatness of our actions that is important, but how much love you put into what you do." In our house Asha Dan (Gift of Hope ") in Byculla (central Mumbai), those who are dying each day are collected from the streets and brought to us.

So every the poorest of the poor are given a chance to experience dignity through love. Many have spent many years on the street, others - men and women - are left on the road by their relatives, because they are dying of some terminal illness ... With joy and a smile, we serve them. And this thanks to Mother

Teresa’s teaching. They have suffered a lot, physically and spiritually, of neglect and abysmal poverty, but they die here, immersed in love.

It may be recalled that Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has composed the theme song for the games-- Swagatham.

Rahman presented his song to a committee of ministers appointed to oversee the progress of the six-billion-dollar Games organization, which has been plagued by charges of corruption. Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy heads the group, which includes Sports Minister MS Gill and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, among others. Rahman seemed reluctant to reveal much more about the song when journalists asked him to reveal about it.

How to impress your girlfriend’s parents

How to impress your girlfriend’s parents

You are into a serious relationship and you want to make her your life partner. You love her like anything and you can go to any extent for her, but when it comes to asking for her hand from her parents, you feel nervous and find it difficult to gather courage to meet them and asking them “I want to marry your daughter.”

You should learn how to impress your girlfriend’s parents if you are really serious on taking your girl home forever. First impression is the last impression, so you need to work hard on few things.

Homework:

You give importance to your exams and interview, in the same way meeting with her parents is equally important. A day before an exam or interview, you do homework, similarly, do homework in advance for this task too. Prepare a list of sensible questions you can ask her parents and cool answers of some common questions they might ask you.

Impress with your dress:

Groom yourself well before meeting them. Take shower, get a fresh hair cut, trim your nails, shave your beard, dress smartly but casual, make sure that your dress is neat and clean. Remember, looks do matter.

Says Rahul Raj, “I believe looks do matter. I am not saying that you should necessarily be good looking, but you can groom yourself by atleast dressing nicely and neatly. Appearing before your girl`s parents is the first thing, and first impression is the last impression.”

Arrive on time:

This is very important that you reach there on time. They will get annoyed for sure if you keep them waiting.

Be confident:

Confidence is what you need at this moment of time. Be confident, give her dad a firm handshake. Greet her mother, touch her feet or give her a hug.

Make good conversation:

This is the most important factor. If you want to get a green signal from her parents, you need to make a good impressive conversation with them. Talk to them in a friendly manner, maintaining decency and manners. Tell about yourself, talk about your family, work, interests, hobbies etc. Ask them about their likes and dislikes. Be a good listener, and listen carefully to what they talk.

Says Animesh Doloi, 24, who works in an MNC, “These are very delicate matters. You need to be extra careful when you`re meeting with her parents for the first time. When I met with Saloni`s (Animesh`s wife) mom and dad for the first time, I was a bit nervous but I met them with confidence. I had a job in hand, I was earning good, and I was well-behaved while meeting them, what else a girl`s parents need. I got a green signal in the first meeting itself, they were impressed.”

Farewell:

When it`s time for you to leave, be polite and humble. Thanks them for inviting you, tell them that you had an excellent time with them, make them feel that you enjoyed in their company. Give hugs, greetings with a gentle smile on your face.

Well, don`t worry! If you`ll follow all these mantras, you`ll definitely leave a positive impression on her parents. Good luck!
