Calm in Kashmir valley, curfew lifted

After many days of unrest and arson, the situation in the Kashmir Valley was today calm with curfew being lifted from all the regions and a break in strikes called by separatists.

According to a Senior police officer, the situation is peaceful throughout the Valley and curfew has been lifted from all parts. Shoppers flocked the markets and business establishments reopened in

Srinagar city and other parts of the Valley.

Traffic snarls were seen at many places as people came out to stock supplies particularly in view of the holy month of Ramzan which commenced from today.

Schools, colleges, banks and private offices reopened and public transport plied on the streets. On August 10, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had sought to calm tensions in the Valley by urging Kashmiris "to give peace a chance". He held out the possibility of greater autonomy and vowed to address rampant unemployment.

The Valley was rocked by violence following the death of a teenager on June 11 after allegedly being hit by a teargas shell at Gani stadium near Rajouri Kadal.

10 cruel things women do to men revealed

10 cruel things women do to men revealed

They are being known as the fairer sex, but women can be downright nasty and often do cruel things to men, reports ANI.

Fox News has compiled a list of top 10 cruel things that women do to men and how they play with the guy’s emotions or ego.

10. They don’t pick up the phone

While men feel good as they manage to take the girls’ phone number, the girls often give them a fake number or don’t pick up the call.

9. Use men for free drinks

Some women go out never planning to spend any of their own money on drinks at the bar or club. Instead, they count on their feminine wiles to convince guys to shell out for their libations. While some of them might begin to get to know him, the cruel and heartless ones will take that drink, flirt a little and move on.

8. Use men as placeholders

If she is a decent person, she’ll just get it over with and dump the boy, but if she’s cruel, she’ll hold on to him for a while until somebody new comes along. These girls don’t like to be alone and without a relationship, so instead of putting you out of your misery and ending it, she’ll string you along until she meets someone to replace you.

7. Emotionally manipulate men

Men don’t like to see women cry and some cruel women take advantage of the fact and use it to get what they want. A few tears would make men do anything to get it to stop.

6. Use physical violence

While men hitting girls are often termed nasty, some cruel women feel it’s perfectly acceptable to hit their boyfriends, as he would never hit her back. This type of woman feels like she can inflict any kind physical pain on him without fear of repercussion.

5. Criticize their men in public

Cruel women criticize and humiliate their men in public places. They often poke fun at her man or even soundly debase him.

4. They don’t disclose their relationship status

It’s certainly not the worst thing a woman could do to a man, but it is annoying when she’s already in a relationship and lets you assume that she’s available so that she can enjoy the man’s flirtation and flattery.

3. They withhold sex

This is a time-tested, and frequently used, cruel thing for women to do to men. For most men, sex is as important as breathing, so withholding it in order to get something she wants or simply to punish her man for his transgressions is a pretty awful thing to do, even if it is effective.

2. They test their men

You’re all ready to go for a night out with your friends, when your girlfriend calls and asks you to change your plans to be with her instead. She doesn’t have any particular reason; she just wants to see you. She knows that you had plans to meet up with the guys, but if you really loved her, you’d come over to her place instead. If her request comes with an "if you really loved me," then it’s a test. If you choose anything other than immediately rushing to her side, you’re going to fail. This kind of testing in a relationship is indeed cruel and petty.

1. They flirt to inspire jealousy

Maybe she’s feeling underappreciated, maybe you’ve just had a big fight or maybe she just enjoys the tortured look on your face. For whatever reason, girls who flirt obviously with other guys in front of their boyfriends are immature and manipulative.

Bhopal was a man made tragedy: P Chidambram

Bhopal was a man made tragedy: P Chidambram

After little less than three decades, the Government today admitted that Bhopal was a man-made tragedy, and the way it was dealt with was "most unsatisfactory". Replying to the debate in Rajya Sabha today, Home Minister P Chidambaram described the response to Bhopal as a "collective failure".

He said that what happened in Bhopal was a man made tragedy. This tragedy was in the making. There were enough indications to the authorities that the tragedy of this kind will happen. When it happened of course, virtually everyone was unprepared. Number of people lost their lives, number were permanently disabled, number were temporarily disabled.

We can see the after effects of this on women especially young girls who have since become women and are in child-bearing age, we can see the after effects on the second generation. And the manner in which the governments addressed this for the last 26 years has been, to be charitable, most unsatisfactory and what compounded the matter were judicial proceedings.

The Minister however added that what was important was to "look forward on what can be done." The Home Minister said that while it was impossible to re-open each case and look at catergorisation, the government was willing to provide free medical aid to those affected. "What we promise is free and comprehensive medical facilities for the the rest of the lives of the victims and the second generation," said Chidambaram.

Chidambaram said "memories tend to play tricks" and told the Leader of the Opposition, Arun Jaitley, what happened in 1984 and how Warren Anderson got away would have been better answered in 2001, when he was in power. The Home Minister also refered the Arjun Singh`s statement in the house on Wednesday.

Arjun Singh had said that Rajiv Gandhi did not intervene to help Anderson in any way. Singh was Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh when the Bhopal gas tragedy took place. Anderson was arrested when he arrived in Bhopal but was released within hours and flown to Delhi on the Chief Minister`s plane. The CEO of Union Carbide then flew to America and has never returned, defying multiple summons from Indian courts.

Sonakshi: DABANGG is getting labelled as super hit

There are some movies that become super hit the moment their first look is revealed. DABANGG is pretty much turning out to be one such film and if response from both within and outside the industry is to be gauged, the prophecy may well come true. No wonder, debutant actress Sonakshi Sinha can be seen grinning from ear to ear with the Salman Khan starrer gaining hype with every passing day.

"Honestly speaking, we didn't realise the magnitude of the film when we started shooting," says Sonakshi, daughter of Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, "It was only as the film progressed when we could see the changes both within the film as well as our own surroundings. DABANGG had started getting larger than life."

A year after the shooting commenced for the film, results are pretty much on display with the promos catching on like wildfire.

"Ask me about it," adds Sonam excitedly, "Just on the bases of song and talkie promos, people are labelling the movie as a super hit. Expectations have heightened up in a big way for sure."
Doesn't that lead to anxiety?

"No, not at all because we are confident of the product," she says firmly, "From cast to crew, everyone has worked so hard on the film. Also, because this is Arbaaz's first film as a producer, he has left no stones unturned. With people appreciating the look of the film, playing it's songs everywhere and talking about it, we are pretty content and satisfied that DABANGG is heading in the right direction."

Well, fingers crossed!

Ranbir starves himself for Anjaana Anjaani

Ranbir KapoorIrrespective of all his hits and flops, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the in-demand actors in Bollywood. Thanks, to his chocolate boy looks and professional attitude, that he has joined the league of the top actors who are working with the top banners in Bollywood. The promos of Ranbir's next movie Anjaana Anjaani, are quiet promising and different.

Buzz up!
The film is on the verge of completion with only a few scene left to be shot. The producer of the movie Sajid Nadiawala is putting his full efforts to finish the film as soon as possible. Reportedly, even Ranbir is trying hard to make the film a success. He shot for the film continuously from morning 10 to evening 5, without taking breaks in between for lunch or tea.

From the very first day of the shoots, Ranbir took his character so seriously that during the shoot he drenched Priyanka Chopra with soft drink so as to make the fighting scene between them, over a soft drink, look real. He was so much into the shoots that he didn't even realise that his co-actor Priyanka got hurt and was bleeding while shooting a running sequence for the film.
